Church History

The initial meeting was held at Country Buffet On April 30, 2005 at which time a small group of people met with me to share the vision the Lord had given me.

At the meeting, Pastor Sease shared some of his accomplishments in the Business arena as well as the communications skills, multi task management skills and responsibility for managing 2.5 million dollars weekly in assets for the Volvo Corporation, a division of Ford.

During that time of sharing he mentioned what he felt were some of the areas that we could do better at. One area that was most important was a spirited worship full of excitement and secondly a creative approach to doing ministry.

The day of the lone ranger is gone. Alone we can do so little, but together as a team we can accomplish so much.

Pastor Sease felt drawn to people who had been turned off by the church, either by bad experiences or not being attended to in a productive fashion. He asked people sitting there that night if they could name five people who didn't attend church for one reason or another? All agreed they could name people. Those names alone are more than most churches have in attendance on Sunday morning.

We, the Church or body of Christ, have been called to minister to the broken but we need to be fixed first!!!!! How can we tell somebody about change when they can't see change in us? So this identified the initial people we would approach.

We also shared the overall vision for the Ministry, all of us have been given talents and in some cases several abilities, the question is what are you doing with what God has given you - use it or lose it!

The issue at this point was that we didn't have a building to assemble together in. Pastor Sease's response: why would God bless us with a building before we identified what we would do in the building?

We set in place a time of praying and fasting, seeking the Lord for direction and a building to worship. Within seven days we had the keys to a building located at 1000 S. Queen Street.

The intent was to meet in another week to discuss further the possibilities of beginning a work. We met the first Sunday in May 2005, at my home where 30 people met at 9:00am for worship. This was only due to the fact that we did not have enough time to contact people for them to meet us at the Church.

Mothers Day, May 8, 2005, was our first service in the church where approx 60 people attended. Pastor Sease stated the building he would ask the Lord to bless the church body with would be one that had multi purposes. Why have a million dollar building to have church only?

On the first Sunday in June 2005 we called this day commitment Sunday. Our first Communion Service was held with the late Pastor Troy Hopkins as the Guest Preacher.

The Lord has allowed many great things to be accomplished through this ministry including cancer being healed, financial miracles and people of all walks of life being delivered and set free. We have been privileged to entertain recording artist such as the late Rev. Timothy Wright and Bro Douglas Miller. We've hosted the state Women's convention, State Men's Conference and the Jurisdictional winter Youth retreat.

As we approach 5yr in ministry we have just opened in January 2010 the Abundant Life School of Ministry which meets once a month Under the direction of Dr . Quintin Robertson.

We, the Abundant Life Family, are excited that we now own a multi-faceted facility to do Ministry and we prayerfully commit to making a difference in the west end community not only in the worship experience but ministering to people's needs both spiritually and naturally.

Pastor's Bio

Elder Anthony W. Sease was born and raised in York, Pa by his saintly Grandmother, Geneva Sease. "Tony" always possessed entrepreneurial skills at an early age. Since the age of 12, he held some type of business. After his graduation from High School, he was the Institutional Sales Representative for Fulton Piano and Organ. In 1986, he entered the automotive sales field which gave him further experience in the business world. After 8 years of working in the retail and wholesale area of Volvo North America, he and his lovely wife Patricia opened and operated "Pat & Tony's Soul Food" for five years.

In April 2005, Elder Sease answered the call to Pastor and the ministry of Abundant Life Ministries Church of God in Christ was birthed. Worship services were held in his home and after a time of fasting, prayer and consecration, the Lord opened a door for Elder Sease to purchase the edifice at 701 W. King Street, York, PA debt free!
The Lord has continued to bless this ministry which is founded on Luke 4:18. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord".

Souls have been delivered and bodies have been healed as we remain Connected, Committed and Accountable to the needs of God's people.

He is former president of the Black Ministers Association of York (BMA), and Vice President of the Commonwealth of PA Jurisdiction Youth Department.

Pastor Sease is married to the love of his life Patricia "Trish". They have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Geneva and Tanoue and have three grandsons.

More importantly, he is a man who is Saved, Sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost who loves the Lord and all of the Lord's people
