Church Info: Prayer Chapel Church of God in Christ is committed to providing a Bible-centered ministry that addresses the challenges of modern living.
As passionate followers of Jesus Christ, we address the ‘whole person’ by emphasizing the principles of Holy Living, training individuals to serve God and community, and by providing a wholesome worship experience that is both spiritually edifying and reverent.
In addition, the church’s focus includes training and developing Christian Leaders for the harvest that will take place in the millennium.

We Believe in God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – John 14 and John 15:26
We Believe in the baptism in water, John 3:5 and in the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:4, which we call the Pentecostal experience, the sign and seal of speaking in tongues.
We Believe in holiness as a way of life, to be taught, practiced and lived as recorded in Hebrews 12:14.
We believe in the sacredness of the Holy Scriptures, old and new; as the word of God, to be infallible and inspired by God, for the disclosing of His plans for the universe and man.
We Believe that the son of God, died the sacrificial redemptive death for the whole world, and provided salvation for all who believe John 3:16 and Hebrews 10: 5-10, and that the whole work of salvation by the Grace of God, is done by the work of the Holy Spirit, John 6:44.
We believe the church to be the body of Christ, a body of baptized believers, therefore every Christian must identify with the church.
We Believe in the second coming of Christ, new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness, 2 Peter 3:13.
Pastor’s Bio: Elder Nathaniel Goodson Jr. is the eldest of seven children, born to Deacon Nathaniel Sr. and Sister Ruth Goodson. He was raised in a Christian family and attended church from early childhood. He accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1967 and soon after, received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Elder Goodson gave his trial sermon at Memorial Church of God in Christ, in Haverford, PA, under the pastorship of Elder Leonard Lovett. Soon after, he was ordained, while under the pastorship of Elder Nathaniel Porter, where he served faithfully until he was called into the Vineyard to work with Elder Lafayette Gooding, at Zion Hill Church of God in Christ, Philadelphia, PA. While at Zion Hill, he was the Youth Minister, as well as Sunday School Teacher and Choir director. He won the respect of all he worked with, both young and old alike.
In May 1979, Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. sent Elder Goodson to Prayer Chapel C.O.G.I.C. to minister and lead the people. From the time he became Pastor, many souls have accepted Christ, membership continues to increase, many have found healing and deliverance through his prayers, and they have served faithfully and productively.
Elder Goodson received his BA degree in Political Science from Cheyney University and entered the field of Social Work, where he could be of service to all. In 1988, he received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. In February 2005, Elder Goodson was appointed the First African-American Councilman in Upper Darby. His dedication and community action resulted in him being elected for two more terms since then. Today he continues to be an influential figure in the church, as well as in the Upper Darby community.
Elder Goodson has been married for 43 years to his beautiful wife, Audrey. From this union, they have one daughter, Dea Goodson-Jackson and son-in-law Kwan. In January of 2007, he was blessed with the birth of his first granddaughter, Layla.
